About
random-variable is an archive of notes, essays, and working reflections on mathematics, cyber security, and broader questions surrounding systems, uncertainty, decision-making, and human behaviour.
Some pieces are technical and analytical in nature. Others are strategic, shaped by questions of infrastructure, conflict, institutions, and the incentives that govern modern systems. A separate part of the archive is concerned with philosophy, personal observations, and recurring patterns that appear across machines, organisations, and people.
The work collected here was written independently over time and is preserved as part of an ongoing process of thinking and revision. Older pieces remain available in their original form; substantial edits and revisions are dated rather than silently rewritten. Not every note is intended as a finished position. Some entries are exploratory, incomplete, or written simply to examine an idea carefully enough to understand it.
Nothing published here represents an institution, organisation, or employer. The archive exists solely as a long-term record of independent work, questions, and observations.
